A survey conducted on online shopping in 2020 in Indonesia found that there was an increase in online shopping penetration of 18 percent during the time of survey. In the second quarter of 2020, the leading online stores in Indonesia, Shopee and Tokopedia, reported growth in transactions and amount of sellers since the beginnings of COVID-19 in Indonesia.

PSBB stands for pembatasan sosial berskala besar or large scale social restrictions. Measures such as closures, travel limitations and restrictions were enforced as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For most areas, PSBB was enforced from April or May 2020.
